The Godfather's of MMA. Pittsburgh is the birthplace of modern mixed martial arts... Although MMA has roots in ancient history, this is the first "organized" league of MMA competitions in American history. The contests pitted grapplers, kickboxers, wrestlers, martial artists, and all around "Tough Guys" against each other. The fighters could win by knockout, submission, or a judges decision. More than thirty years later the "Anything Goes" brainchild of Bill Viola and Frank Caliguri has become the fastest growing sport in the world!
